And don’t forget the reason we’re all going to the 10th Annual SCD Educational Seminar: to hear from our amazing speakers!

This last year has been a tough one for the SCD Warrior, especially with the legislation in California regulating opioid use. What was already a challenge for patients has become impossible in some areas. Moments like this show us how political decisions directly affect your health and wellbeing. And, after you made the successful push to stop AB 1998, we saw how community activism can change things for the better. We have special guests and activists, Nancy Rene and Cecil McLinn joining us to speak on political activism. They will cover the methods you can use to ensure your voice is heard on Capitol Hill and then hold an interactive workshop where everyone will practice using the skills they’ve just developed. You are sure to walk away feeling prepared the next time, and there will be a next time, SCD Warriors must make their voices heard.

This is just one of many excellent talks at the Seminar! Proud to be hosted by the UC Davis Medical Center, from September 6th – 8th for all of these moments and more.

The annual SCD Education Seminar is put on by Sickle Cell Warriors for Sickle Cell Warriors. We want to make sure that ALL Warriors are able to attend regardless of cost – and need your help. We’ve started a GoFundMe for 10 Warrior Scholarships. The money raised here will go directly to the transportation, food, and hotel costs for 10 Warriors. And, when we raise enough for 10 scholarships – maybe we can raise enough for 10 more. Sponsor a Scholarship today and help a Warrior attend this incredible event.

The mission of Cayenne Wellness Center and Children’s Foundation is to improve the nutritional and mental health of the public, with a focus on education and advocacy on sickle cell disease.
