I need someone to talk to. I feel a crisis coming on, it sucks to be in pain and be able to do nothing about it. Any suggestion for coping?

Hey Shakirah, start hydrating like you’re a camel! Drink, drink, drink, and take some pain meds if you are feeling pain. Try to avoid stress, and sleep for a few hours extra. This is what sometimes helps me to curtail a crises. Sometimes, nothing you can do will hold back the tide though; and you just have to ride it out. I hope you feel better soon. Come talk to us at for daily support from 2000 + warriors. Be well. xxx

Drink lots of water. I have SCD but fortunately for me, i have pain like twice a year and i don”t need to visit the hospital, i just pop a pill and the pain goes in a few minutes. I haven’t been to the hospital in like 5yrs. However, i suffer from malaria a lot as i live in Africa and i do have jaundice all the time. These are my major SCD challanges.
